Get a Sneak Peak with TapPainter
Want to see what your living room would look like if you painted it purple? There’s an app for that!
With TapPainter, an app currently offered for iOS, you can use a picture of an interior room and try out different colors on the walls to see how it will look. What sets this app apart from its competitors is that it can detect the edges of walls and differentiate shadows from different colors of paint. It also takes into account the current paint color when rendering what the new shade will look like on your wall.
Just snap a picture of your wall using a smartphone or tablet, and tap on the wall you want to recolor.
Choose a color using the intuitive color wheel or from one of the app’s color fan decks, or enter the color code from a paint swatch.
Tap the paint roller to apply the selected color. In just a few seconds, you’ll see a near-real image with preserved lighting conditions, shadows and objects.
It’s the closest you can get to seeing exactly what the room will look like in any given color, without having to paint it and wish you hadn’t.
